The point of view of SIPEC

In spite of an economic situation and a sometimes gloomy climate, the 2013 Salon de la Photo broke all previous attendance records. Showcasing almost all the brands on the photography market, it provided a huge exhibition and interaction space reflecting both the dynamism of photographic equipment manufacturers and their confidence in the future. The 2013 edition promises to be equally outstanding, and will strive more than ever to present technical innovations that respond to the needs generated by new communication tools and social networks. Manufacturers are offering ever more user-friendly and efficient image capture devices, ground-breaking printing solutions, and tools whose performance and quality are more and more outstanding. The equipment, software and services on offer are both highly attractive and relevant to the needs of all photographers, be they beginners, enlightened enthusiasts or professionals.

As a forum for both photographers and manufacturers, the Salon de la Photo has become an eagerly awaited event among a growing number of amateur and professional photographers eager to meet and share their experiences. It’s a place where all the various aspects of photography come together under one roof and where technology rubs shoulders with art. The Salon de la Photo provides the opportunity to discover technological innovations, share experiences, and appreciate artistic talent in a single space. This exciting event lasts five days and starts at 10 am (9 am on Saturday). A range of workshops and studios provide opportunities to interact with photographers eager to share their expertise. The popular Grandes Rencontres allow visitors to attend presentations given by big name photographers: an opportunity to go beyond the technical features showcased by the exhibitors. The Salon de la Photo also demonstrates its support for professional photography with the Zoom Awards given to two emerging photographers, one selected by the general public, the other by the specialist photography press. Examples of the winners’ work will be exhibited not only at the Salon de la Photo itself, but also for the first time at CP+ in Yokohama in February 2015. As always, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of exhibitions specially curated for the Salon de la Photo.

Everything points to the 2014 Salon de la Photo being a truly exciting event: few weeks after Photokina, it will also be on sale at the "Village de Vente" (retail village). Manufacturers make equipment designed to help photographers achieve their artistic and professional goals, but we also know that a great photograph depends on the eye of a talented photographer... So let the Salon de la Photo 2014 open your eyes!
